What is Electrostatic Dissipative Flooring?

ESD dissipative floors are technically defined as surfaces that provide a resistance to ground (earth) of < 1 x 10⁹ Ω.

Unlike conductive flooring (which discharges static almost instantly), a dissipative floor is designed to allow static charge to flow to ground in a slower, more controlled manner. This is the industry-standard requirement for most Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPAs), including data centres and electronics assembly lines. By working in conjunction with specialist footwear, our systems prevent the rapid discharge that causes catastrophic damage to sensitive components.

In industries handling micro-electronics, electrostatic discharge (ESD) is an invisible enemy. While a human can only feel a static shock at around 3,000 volts, delicate electronic components can be destroyed by as little as 100 volts.
